Tonight we have had a super evening - Burns Night and no Burns night would be complete without the piping in of the haggis.

We had a brilliant evening at the Ryde Methodist Church Burns Night which was a superb end to a wonderful week.

Busy Fingers

When I was recently asked by Barbara from church, to co-ordinate a thanksgiving service and display some beautiful craft work, little did I realise what it would lead to. Years ago, I used to do sooooo much craft work. I knitted, I sewed and crocheted, I worked on papercraft etc but I had packed it all away thinking those days were over. 

Well as a result of seeing Muriel Rabbit's beautiful craft work when I was displaying it for an afternoon, I renewed my own love of craft. Wanting to share this with others I decided to create a "Busy Fingers" group through Ryde Methodist Church Several of us meet together and work on different crafts while we have a good chat. I made a clown for my youngest grandaughter for Christmas.

Of course Granny being granny, I decided to let the twins choose a clown each so am now part way through Bertie Bloomer.

The Busy fingers group is newly formed and the idea is that we come together for frienship while we craft. Some people will work on their own projects and some will make and sell items for charity. One thing that is certain is that we will have fun fun fun!! Especially when I start knitting sausages and sandwiches!!

Monica and Kay are busy busy! Kay was making cards and Monica was making flags for the Burns Night Supper tables.

I am sure the group will grow but it doesn't matter how many attend as we will have a good time and raise some money for charity.

What an enjoyable night we had. I belong to Ryde Methodist Church and every month we enjoy an International evening. We have been all round the world on these nights but last night we were closer to home as we celebrated Burns Night with a wonderful Burns supper and entertainment.

Ruth Realy and her team of helpers provided a wonderful supper and the IOW Caledonian Society entertained before giving us the opportunity to join in the Scittish dancing. There were some wonderful raffle prizes 

and I was lucky enough to win one so its haggis and tatties for my supper tomorrow night.

Unfortunately, despite our gallant efforts, our table only managed to come second in the quiz just missing out on a valuable prize. :)

It was a great evening full of food and fellowship and my house guest Paula, thoroughly enjoyed herself as did I!

Home Alone

Yesterday was a day for being home alone. Now don't get me wrong I like mine own company! but I also connected with friends via facebook and phone. I am very lucky to have made so many lovely friends this year. Where would we all be without facebook? I spent the time learning about blogger and managed to over come a few of the frustrations that presented themselves. Next thing is Youtube - steep learning curve but I am determined to master all these things, especially as I now work on social media for clients now!

Need to be very organised as am running lots of blogs and lots of facebook pages and tweeting well too!
It has to be done.

and that is only part of what I do!!!! Busy busy busy but that is just the way I love it! Now I have to get on with some events I am planning in January and beyond. On the first Saturday of every month (except in January its on the second Saturday (8th) I am organising coffee and shop at Ryde Methodist Church. I will have room for 10 stalls every month to be set up while the church coffee morning is on. Hoping to showcase a lot of the Island businesses over the year. I am also arranging a fayre for people running home based businesses. Again they can show case their businesses and invite others to join their teams. With so many redundancies on the Island, people will be looking for other ways of earning. I already have Wikaniko, Utility Warehouse, Barefoot books, Pampered Chef , Phoenix cards booked so plenty of room for lots more. Would love to have Linen at Home, Avon, Virgin Vie etc. Get in touch if you want to know more. Alex Tana, life coach will also be there to help people started up businesses.
This event will be at the Riverside centre in Newport on 15th January so book your stalls now or reserve the date and come and chat about running your own home based business
